Vicki-and-Russell-SW-234x300On 15th January, we invited all carers from the South West region to join us to celebrate the New Year at the Bridge House in Longham. The event was in recognition of the hard work foster carers do in making a difference to children’s lives. The dinner was an opportunity to thank carers for supporting children to be happy and healthy whilst in foster care. Foster carers mingled together and were welcomed by the team of social workers, therapists, administrators and management. Foster carers Russell and Vicki commented on how successful the evening was:

“Russell and I attended the meal at the Bridge house. Due to having young children my husband hasn’t been able to come the past few years so it was great to be able to get a baby sitter and both go.We thoroughly enjoyed catching up with other carers who we know from social events, training courses and some who have had our foster children for respite.?It’s also nice to share a meal with our social workers who we spend so much time with throughout the year.??Each year there are new faces which is always lovely to see. The three course meal and wine was very impressive although I always eat too much! A thoroughly enjoyable evening which always brightens up January!”

Regional Director, Steve Hunt added: “It was a great opportunity for carers from all over to the region to meet and share experiences. Capstone Foster Care has a fantastic and dedicated group of foster carers looking after children in care and it was great to be able to celebrate with them and thank them for all their hard work.”

Capstone Foster Care is pleased to announce that we will now be supporting foster carers across the North East of England. Our support will extend to areas around Newcastle, Durham, Darlington, Stockton-on-Tees, Sunderland and Middlesborough.

The north east is a fantastic place to foster. There are lots of great things to do there with children who need support. From a day out in Seaham at the beach, going to see the Angel of the North, cheering on the Toon Army, or venturing towards Hadrian’s Wall, you could support a child to enjoy new experiences.

Foster carers will need to have a spare bedroom, as well as patience and commitment to support a child in their home. If making a difference is something you are interested in, then why not contact your local team on 0800 012 4004.
