Capstone North Team have enjoyed planning and taking part in family activities over the summer holidays. The North Team led by Hayley Barncroft the new support worker have planned trips each week across the holiday period over different venues to ensure carers and young people from all over could access at least one activity.

The trips included fun days at Wigfield Farm were the children made new friends and fed the animals. They also went to Liverpool World Museum, Eureka, Magna, Blackpool and completed a walk to Stoodley Pike.

The Capstone North Team especially had a great day at Blackpool Stanley Park with carers and children. Luckily the sun was shining for the day and the children enjoyed activities such as the rope swing, conker hunting, playing football, trampolines, and inflatable slides. To round the day off nicely they even went sailing on the picturesque boating lake. All enjoyed Ice Creams, doughnuts and slushies. Even the children agreed they were the best doughnuts ever!

Feedback from all the events has been fantastic just see below for yourself:

One carer stated- ‘Thanks for putting together the activities, it really nice for all the carers and children to meet and be able to support each other.’

One Young Person stated, ‘Thanks for taking me today, it’s been brilliant. The best part was everyone being so nice to each other.’

One staff member said, ‘It was a joy to watch the young people interact together and with other children who they weren’t familiar with, promoting a sense of normality.’

A big thank you to all who came, it was a pleasure to see you all having so much fun!

Capstone North and Classic Foster Care held our family fun day on Sunday 9th July at Robin Wood Activity Centre in Todmorden.  This annual event is always well attended and is a great opportunity for foster carers, the children they look after, as well as others involved in supporting them to all get together to have fun.

North summer day 1This year families from all our different offices came together for the family day and it was great for adult and children to get to know each other better.

It was a great day and all the children had a good time doing activities like Archery, Zip Wire, Giant Swing and the climbing wall.  Feedback from the children was positive and this will definitely be a venue we re-visit!

Team manager Pam says “It is fantastic that carers across the North were able to come together with young people, many of them meeting for the first time”

Education officer Gavin says “It was good to see young people challenging themselves to try new things like the zip wire and giant swing”.
