Meet the Team
The Capstone team in the North is led by Catherine Lockett. When you make an enquiry, the first person you will speak to is Adam.
Catherine has 29 years experience of working within Social Care Services, including managing a Leaving Care service, a busy Local Authority Fostering Service and with the support of her Foster Carers and staff took the service from a “Satisfactory” to an “Outstanding” Ofsted grade.
She set up Classic Foster Care 4 years ago and managed this service alongside her small experienced team to achieve another ‘Outstanding’ fostering judgement. Catherine is a qualified Social Worker, Practice Teacher and has been in managerial positions for the last 22 years.
She has a customer service award for her work at Classic Foster Care and was also a finalist in the “Rochdale Business Woman Of The Year Award 2011”. Catherine has the support of Paula who has 35 years experience and is invaluable to Capstone Foster Care.
Jill has managed the team as Fostering Manager for the past 5 years, She has many years’ experience in social care starting her career as a nursery nurse and progressing to manage children and families centres, family support services which includes emergency hours support for families struggling at home to care for their children. Jill has been managing large teams of social care staff and is a qualified Social Worker with a management qualification.
Rachel started her career as as a supervising social worker and more recently a senior practitioner. Before qualifying as a social worker, Rachel was experienced in working with young people with offending behaviour, and homelessness. She enjoys the direct work with children and young people, and helps to run the social events and youth groups within the agency. Rachel has supported a wide range of foster placements, and is experienced of supporting families and children with a variety of challenging and complex needs.
Catherine began at Classic Foster Care in its infancy back in 2010 and has enjoyed helping to steer the service as it has grown, developed and joined Capstone Foster Care. She has worked within fostering teams as a Supervising Social Worker for the last 11 years and has gained post-qualification awards, as well as a Masters Degree in Social Work and Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and ICT. Her pre- and post-qualifying experience, along with her ongoing commitment to ensuring the best outcomes for children ensures she is able to offer quality support to the families she supervises.
Sharon has worked within Adult Mental Health Services for 23 years. After gaining her B.A Honors Degree in Social Work she then worked a Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service Practitioner. Sharon really enjoys working with children.
All our Social Workers work well together and are very experienced. They understand the importance of supporting Foster Carers at the times when you need it. Capstone also recognise that our Foster Carers are invaluable and as a team we feel it is essential to commit to worthwhile training and support.
Training & Development Officer
Julie has joined the team as our dedicated Training & Development Officer. She comes with over 30 years experience of working within Childrens’ Social Care. She is an established trainer, experienced practitioner and manager. She also has some of her work accredited by Manchester University. Julie is extremely motivated and passionate about the work she does. She is very skilled and is able to provide one to one support to our Foster Carers as well as group training and learning opportunities.
Helen has had 28 years experience of working with Children and Families in Social Care and Surestart settings. She started her career as a Nursery Nurse and progressed to managing a team of family workers for the Child and Family Support Service. Her previous role involved working directly with vulnerable children (aged 0-16), young people and their families. This gave her a variety of experiences through direct work of people from many different backgrounds with varying degrees of needs within each family.
Janine joined Capstone Foster Care in July 2017 as Placement Officer. She enjoys the demands of working with Local Authorities to help place children and young people with foster carers who make a difference. Janine liaises with foster carers, social workers and other teams across the country.
No service can operate without an extremely competent and organised admin service. Amanda has many years experience within and managing fostering and adoption admin services. Amanda has won a customer service award for her commitment to the work she does, if you pick up the phone you can guarantee a positive response from Amanda.
Sandra supports the work carried out by Amanda. She has a wealth of experience in leaving care and fostering services where she worked as a receptionist and then as a support worker.
Capstone is also actively involved with local universities, as we often take final year Social Work students on placement to give them some experience prior to qualifying.
Following a successful four years, we moved to larger premises, where we have the benefit of a children’s room which can be utilised to support families having contact.
We also have access to specialist support when we need it from very experienced child care workers such as our paediatrician, solicitor, and therapeutic social work staff.
