Capstone Foster Care, along with Capstone Care Leavers Trust are proud to be partnering with St Basils.
St Basils is a well-known charity, providing shelter and support for young people who have experienced homelessness. What the public may be unaware of is their outreach programmes, which not only provides shelter but also works towards education and employability.
Of course, with St Basils being a charity, this brilliant initiative relies on donations to help people. Which is where Capstone comes in.
We have donated refurbished laptops, which will go a long way in enabling and encouraging young people living with the organisation to pursue education and increase employability, aiming for a brighter future.
Barrie Hodge, Head of Fundraising and Communications at St Basils, said, "we are so grateful to the capstone trust for this support.
These laptops will allow us to provide vital equipment so that young people can engage with training courses online, apply for jobs and, when the time is right, move on into independence. On behalf of all those who will benefit, thank you."
That is a staggering figure, with so many young homeless people being care experienced, Capstone Care Leavers Trust also stepped forward to support the charitable organisation. With the board of trustees approving a matched priority scheme, meaning applications through St Basils will be treated with the same importance as internal referrals.
Zoe Greenwood, Manager of Capstone Care Leavers Trust, commented, “I went along to St Basils, giving a talk to the outreach team about what we can potentially provide to their young people, whether that is clothing or other essentials they may need in their sheltered accommodation.”
