We are proud of our one of a kind MATTS provision…
What is MATTS? We hear you ask. It is a specialist service, totally unique to Capstone Foster Care providing mental health services at the point of need for our children and young people.
In a nutshell it is our in-house CAMHS, but without the waiting lists.
Our aim is to create a service which holds both foster carer and child at the centre of all that we do, enabling both the receive the support that they need to promote a long term and fulfilling arrangement.
MATTS stands for Multi-disciplinary Assessment Treatment & Therapy Service, it is wrap-around care which coordinates everyone from schools and teachers, social workers and an array of therapists from play therapists to psychotherapists, enabling everyone to sing from the same hymn sheet.
This approach means quicker access to support needed, which results in less breakdowns of relationships within the fostering household.
You do not need specialist experience to provide this type of fostering. MATTS is an extra layer of support for our wonderful foster carers provided by us, allowing you to be more accessible and available, enabling you to tailor your parenting approach to be as unique as the child that you are caring for.
The extra level of support required will be well communicated by the in-house MATTS team, providing a wrap around service placing the child at the center.
Most foster carers are able to provide this type of fostering, however, there are traits that are essential in order for you to be successful in this type of fostering.
Willingness – as a therapeutic carer, you will be working with a range of professionals to support the needs of the child.
Openness – each child and their experiences are unique to them, you will be open to adjusting your parenting technique to best support the child in that moment.
Curiosity – your ability to step back, reflect, and consider the why are crucial in becoming a therapeutic carer.
Stability – one of the most damaging things for a looked after child is ongoing change, Capstone Foster Care will work with you to provide each child a loving and stable home that they need.
