The understanding of different cultures is a vital one for us here and Capstone Foster Care, which is why we take extra time and care investing in learning and development for our foster carers, to support more positive matches between children of different cultural backgrounds and the right fostering family.
Of course, we also take every opportunity we can to get out into the local community and expose our children to as much culture as possible as well.
Children’s Champion Saj took some of our young people to visit a Gurdwara to learn about Diwali and Sikhism.
Seva (selfless service) is a big part in Sikhism – helping others in many ways without any reward or personal gain is a way of life for many Sikhs.
The children and young people got a full tour of the place of worship and had the opportunity to ask any questions. They got to witness the selfless service of the Sikh community who welcomed them in their place of worship and showed them how any person from all religions or none are welcome to come and enjoy Langar. (Which we are told were delicious)
