During October, our team in the North gathered donations for the refugee clothes drive. They were delivered to charity, Care4Calais who in turn distributed the clothes to a variety of hotels all of which are housing refugee families from Afghanistan. There were so many donations that the team had to deliver the items in two carloads! In total there were 26 bags of clothes, shoes, boxes of toiletries and a box of toys.
Care4Calais say that right now they are seeing many refugees who don’t have any clean clothes and are walking around in flip flops because they don’t have any shoes. Refugees have been forced into a dangerous journey from their homes in the hopes of finding safety. You can find some great facts and myth busters about refugees seeking asylum here.
Thank you to everyone for your donations. We are proud to have been able to help such an amazing cause and most especially as it’s one very close to so many of our hearts as we see our foster carers supporting unaccompanied minors entering the UK.
